Lost Memory

Two versions, one project—each with its own twist.

After revisiting a faded memory, I pieced together the time when my happiness went on hiatus.

MOMENT

At some point while growing up, I lost touch with who I was. Happiness faded. I remember a time when it was just there, part of me, but somewhere along the way, it took a detour. Now, I find myself in happy moments, but it’s different from truly feeling happy.

The video blends live action and graphics with a glitch effect to capture the “lost” feeling of this memory. Iridescent elements shimmer throughout, symbolizing change from different perspectives. Since this memory feels distant, I’ve retold it from the angle that feels clearest.

In the video, symbolic objects—bubbles, balloons, flowers, and candles—represent the fragility, growth, and light that helped guide me through this journey.

Plated Flowers

Flowers can mean many things, but here they represent the growth of my teenage years. Cutting the flowers with a fork and knife signifies a disruption in my well-being—a moment that shifted the path of my growth.

Bubble Blowing

Blowing bubbles is one of my favorite things, a reminder of simpler times. But bubbles are fragile, just like the happiness I felt in childhood. When they pop, that burst of joy fades, leaving a quiet, somber feeling.

Cut the Flame

A candle’s flame lights up the darkness, symbolizing my strength and energy. The scissors cutting the flame reflect my insecurities and the heavy feelings that dim that light within.

Balloon Bath

Like bubbles, balloons symbolize happiness, though they last a bit longer. Unlike bubbles, they deflate over time, becoming dull. The bathtub—a place I go to escape—filled with balloons represents my desire to remove negativity from my life.

Carrying Flowers

This scene is a reminder to myself: even if I feel like I’ve lost something valuable, I’m still holding on, hoping to rediscover that carefree, natural side of myself.

This is my second version of this lost memory. I’ve focused more on the typography, highlighting words that bring back that memory with more clarity
